Well folks, I am a native Floridian born and raised in Miami, FL. That labels me a "True Florida Cracker". I later moved to the west coast of Florida near Punta Gorda in 1985. Being an avid outdoorsman all my life, I began photographing the natural beauty of the numerous pristine scenic landscapes throughout my home state. Many of these pristine places were areas I had traveled in my youth. It always been my hope that through my Landscape and Nature images of these “Moments in Time” that I wish to speak to the next generation of viewers, for they will be the ones responsible for the continued preservation of these natural pristine places of unspoiled beauty.

Many of my large format B&W sepia toned images have graced the walls of private and corporate clients. The rich brown sepia tone enhances and adds a unique gentle warmth and feeling in my landscape prints. Many of my B&W and color images have been on magazine and book covers, calendars, commercial advertising, corporate brochures, private and corporate print collectors for which I am most proud. I have been fortunate enough to have earned many awards over the years for many of my filmed images.
I’m now retired from the Environmental Design / Construct / Hazardous Waste Cleanup engineering field after 35 years. I have been involved in photography for over 30 years, having used both the 35MM and 4x5 formats. I have photographed a wide diversity of subjects over those many years from nature and wildlife, weddings, environmental portraits, landscape, still life and macro to just about everything in between. One of my proudest images, that is displayed at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, is of a remote camera sequence of a dawn launch of the space shuttle, Challenger.

I had recently made the switch to the digital realm of photography after relocating to Colorado in 2000. My first digital camera of choice then was the Sony Mavica CD1000 camera system and accessory lenses to extend the photographic range of that camera. I have now progressed up to the Canon 30D and 10D Digital SLR camera bodies and those great "L" version Canon lenses and accessories. I use a custom built 3 GB desktop darkroom running 4 hard drives with 4 GB of RAM and I use Adobe PS Elements 3.0 and Adobe PhotoShop CS2 photo-editing software. I find that I now have more time to spend making digital images rather than dealing with the wet darkroom processes. Digital photography is truly an inspirational medium of expression.
I have found that the digital photography format has taught me how to previsualize the image composition very different from that of film formats. I can remove unwanted compositional elements from within an image, as well as incorporate additional elements in them to create the previsualized image. Many of my images are made with that future process in mind. That is the true beauty of digital photography, the creativity of the final image. I like to refer to it as "Making Images" rather than taking pictures.
Photo Adventures The majority of my photography work, while living in Colorado, was up in the Rocky Mountain National Park. There, I photographed the four seasons of the rugged mountainous landscapes and the wildlife that lived there. I was also fortunate enough to have photographed in several of our nations National Parks and Monuments of the desert SW for three months during the summer of 2002 before moving back to Florida.
I have once again began photographing the remote pristine wilderness areas of Florida. I'm now offering my expertise in backwoods canoeing /camping and photography in my Florida Photographic Adventure Tours of Charlotte Harbor, it's estuaries and the many pristine rivers and creeks located in the SW Florida area. These photo tours are sized in small groups of from 2 to 8 people to give better personal instruction on a one on one basis. If you are interesting in learning more about the Photo Adventure Tours please click on the link for more details. After returning to Florida I founded the “Digital Photographers Group”, which is both a local meeting group and an interactive photographers website. DPG is dedicated to sharing knowledge thru the experience of others. DPG's interactive web site allows the photographer to post his/her photos to the site for critique, post a request for editing instructions and just for sharing your images. If you are interesting in learning more about DPG please contact me for more details.
